Hull FC forward Will Kirby has been ruled out long term with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 20-year-old suffered the injury in the opening minutes of last Friday's home defeat by Wakefield.
Kirby had been starting a second successive game for the Black and Whites for the the first time.
"It's tough news for us as a club and really tough news for young Will," interim coach Andy Last told BBC Radio Humberside.
"It's sad really, he's just got his opportunity in the first team and earned my confidence and his team-mates' trust and unfortunately the game finds a way to knock you down."
