Cardiff Devils began the Elite League season with a 2-0 win over Manchester Storm at the Vindico Arena on Saturday evening.

Bayley Harewood, named man of the match, opened the scoring for the hosts in the second period.

They had to wait until late in the final period for a second to seal the victory with Josh MacDonald slotting into the empty net.

"I really liked our game management in the third period, we looked solid," said Devils head coach Paul Thompson.

"[Manchester netminder Drew] DeRidder had a game today, I mean we had five or six point blank opportunities and credit to him."

Thompson also praised Harewood's contribution.

"He was our man of the match today, there's no doubt about that," he added.

"He scored the goal, made some great plays, away from the puck he was really focussed and I'm pleased for him."

Devils host Glasgow Clan on Sunday as they continue a run of five consecutive home games.

Cardiff now have a 100% home record across nine league, cup, and pre-season matches in 2026-27, but are yet to win a competitve game on the road.
