I am told despite the late interest from Everton, Joshua Zirkzee will remain at Manchester United.
I am not entirely clear what the issue was but the Netherlands forward will stay with the Old Trafford outfit.
Everton have launched a late bid for Manchester United's outcast striker Joshua Zirkzee amid questions over their £40m move for AS Monaco's Folarin Balogun.
A report in France suggested Balogun had failed his medical, although the word at the Everton end is that the deal is still being worked on.
Everton will now be racing against the clock to seal a deal for the 25-year-old Netherlands striker, who saw proposed moves to Juventus and Fiorentina fall through.
Whether he is in addition to, or instead of, Balogun remains to be seen.

Striker Louie Bradbury has joined Stoke on a three-year contract.
Bradbury only signed his professional contract with United on 12 August and scored in a Premier League Under-18 victory at Everton on Saturday.
However, he had already decided to leave the club at that point.
The 17-year-old, who was part of the Wales squad for this summer's Under-19 European Championships, has chosen Stoke from multiple options, believing the pathway to senior football is clearer.

Manchester United youngster Jack Moorhouse has agreed a deal to join Dundee on loan for the remainder of the season.
Moorhouse was on the brink of joining Everton last month but the Merseysiders pulled out at the 11th hour.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who made 24 appearances on loan at Leyton Orient in the first half of last season, subsequently received a number of offers in League One, plus abroad.
However, he believes the Scottish Premiership offers the best chance to develop, having noted the impact made by United Premier League 2 squad team-mate Jacob Devaney at St Mirren last term.
The Republic of Ireland international will travel north for a medical before completing the move.

Most think the club should be trying to sign a left-back as competition for Luke Shaw and make an addition in their striking department.
However, amid the flurry of activity on Monday, United were absent from a large amount of speculation.
Joshua Zirkzee, the most likely senior player to leave, was heavily linked to Serie A duo Fiorentina and Juventus, but it seems those exit doors are closing, with Everton's Beto joining Fiorentina and Newcastle's Nick Woltemade set for a medical with Juventus.
An unused substitute in both Premier League games so far, the Netherlands forward will hope to secure a move, which could be the trigger for someone to come into Old Trafford.
There has been lots of interest in youngster Harry Amass, United's only other orthodox left-back, but the 19-year-old has yet to be given clearance to have a medical.
A number of young players; striker Chido Obi, midfielder Jack Moorhouse, Wales youth international Gabriele Biancheri and Paraguay international Diego Leon were not involved in Monday's Premier League 2 victory over Leicester City.
It will be interesting to see how many of them are still United players by the end of the day.
Tuesday is the final chance of the summer for your Premier League team to do transfer business.
The window closes at 23:00 BST, so teams - and fans - could be in for a late-night transfer scramble.

Gerry: We need a decent right-back. Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot were just not good enough over the first two weekends, yet all we talk about is a new left-back. When are we going to give our academy kids a chance? We get them at 16 years old from other clubs just to sell them at 19 years old for peanuts. Let's give Harry Amass a season as back-up, and if he's not good enough then buy Lewis Hall next summer.
Amos: We are still shaky at the back. Luke Shaw needs a back-up. Age is catching up with him and he cannot run the whole 90 minutes any more.
Christine: It's not about competing with Shaw at left-back, he doesn't give anything to compete with. United need to break the bank for a left-back, preferably Hall. If they can't get him, Alejandro Balde may be an option as a loan deal. Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee need to be moved on - loan or sell them.
Nick: I would so like them to sign Arsenal's Myles Lewis-Skelly. His versatility and combativeness would be a great addition to the squad.
Iain: The left-back issue is obvious, but a credible back-up striker is also just as essential. Zirkzee has, unfortunately, not really worked and we need a different option off the bench or to cover the position.
Royston: Get a striker or promote one from the youth team. If it wasn't for Bruno, United will be struggling for goals. Needs a backup to Sesko who won't be able to play every game. Also goals from set pieces is going to be a struggle without a replacement for Casemiro.
Ross: Man United need to sign a left back and holding midfielder.

Image source, Getty ImagesManchester United forward Shea Lacey scored twice as Adam Lawrence's side continued their winning start to their Premier League 2 campaign by beating Leicester 4-1 at Leigh.
Lacey has been on the bench for both United's Premier League games so far this season and was brought on during the second half as Michael Carrick's side suffered a shock defeat at Hull.
The 19-year-old was not involved against Ipswich, and dropped into Lawrence's PL2 starting line-up instead, making a telling impact with two first-half goals, the first of which was a beautiful low drive from the edge of the area after cutting in from the right wing.
He was replaced after an hour by another academy star, 15-year-old JJ Gabriel, who scored an astonishing goal near the end, taking possession inside the area with his back to goal, beating one defender with a drag back, then skipping past another before finishing from six yards.
Significantly, full-back Harry Amass was not involved amid conflicting reports over the 19-year-old being in talks with Burnley.
It is anticipated Amass will move away from Old Trafford before Tuesday night's deadline.

Shaw was beaten and then outpaced by Abdul Fatawu, who then crossed for Leif Davis to smash home a first-time shot.
It has led to more calls from some United fans for the club to bring in another left-back before the transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday.
Shaw admitted to BBC Radio 5 Live after the game he hadn't done well.
"I'm disappointed in myself," he said. "With my experience, I must be doing much better for their first goal. That's not me."
It remains to be seen whether United will be active, with Joshua Zirkzee potentially leaving even though talks over a loan move to Fiorentina have collapsed.
Shaw is confident there will be reinforcements.
"We believe we can win the Premier League," he said. "I'm sure there will be a couple of additions to the squad, which is needed to make it stronger."

Sources in Italy are telling me Fiorentina are now hoping to sign Beto from Everton instead.
It does seem as though Juventus might come in for the forward, although that is dependent on Canada striker Jonathan David completing a move to Atletico Madrid.
Zirkzee has been an unused substitute for both Manchester United games so far and does appear to be the most likely senior player to leave before the transfer window closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday.
That might be key in whether United make additions to Michael Carrick's squad.
Carrick didn't totally rule it out after Sunday's 5-2 victory over Ipswich at Old Trafford.
"It's always difficult to say, to be honest, when there's so little time left, but we're always open if there's something else to be able to add," he said.
"I wouldn't shut that down but, as it stands, we'll have to wait and see."

He has entered the final year of his contract – Manchester United have the option to extend by another year – and while it is clear that interest from elsewhere in Europe, including from Turkish club Galatasaray, will not result in him leaving in this transfer window, he could justifiably say he should be the highest earner - a status that now belongs to Marcus Rashford.
The idea of Fernandes leaving, even at the age of 31, is not something many United fans would be comfortable with.
"He is the one that gets Manchester United ticking," former United and England wide man Ashley Young told Sky Sports. "There is a reason why he was voted player of the year by his fellow professionals and it's performances like this.
"He wants to be the best and he wants to win. He is huge for his club. If they don't have him, there is going to be a huge hole in this team."
At the final whistle on Sunday, Fernandes' initial reaction was to talk to substitute Benjamin Sesko about a technical point around a pass he had been trying to find the striker with during injury time.
Fernandes then shook hands with opposing players and the officials and was heading off to find more opponents to greet when he realised he had forgotten to collect the match ball, his hat-trick reward.
He swiftly turned, asked, and referee Craig Pawson handed it over.
Without his contribution, Manchester United may well not have won this game - but then, you could have said that about a lot of games over the past couple of years.

Peter: Happy with the win but we would have lost against better teams performing like that, especially in the first half. If it weren't for one man, Bruno Fernandes, it would have been a bad day.
Phil: Good performance from the midfield. You could see that something is forming. Better than last week, that's for sure, but some positions need a touch-up, like left-back. There would be no harm enquiring about Leif Davis from Ipswich - I said it a couple of years ago and he is getting better.
Matthew: The better side won. I do think that the own goal should have been disallowed. Good to see United actually attacking with a threat and not letting their heads go down too much after conceding.
Gerry: Sloppy play at times and lucky with two goals. Mainoo and Fernandes outstanding.
Ipswich fans
Richard: We had no luck after the Nunez slip. United were ruthless. Ipswich's season will not be defined by these games. Very soggy walk to tram stop!
Tony: Not good enough. Team selection was totally wrong against a good Manchester United side. No good strikers again showed a lack of quality in squad. Where were all the other new players?
Steve: As an avid Ipswich fan, it's what I expected - we haven't had time to gel and were against an experienced, established Premier League side. I think we were unlucky and United were lucky to score five.
Match of the Day pundits Ellen White and Shay Given discuss the refereeing controversy at Old Trafford as a Harry Maguire handball was deemed accidental, meaning a Jacob Greaves own goal stood.
Given said: "It is a clear handball. His hands are not in a natural position. It is a deliberate handball and a deliberate motion towards the ball."
White added: "It is a very unnatural position to be going to protect your face. It does feel like a handball and it does feel deliberate."

Image source, Getty ImagesManchester United chief executive Omar Berrada says the club remains on track to build a new stadium close to the present site at Old Trafford.
Trafford Council are in the middle of a series of consultation events around their Old Trafford Masterplan, of which the new stadium is the centrepiece.
When the consultation period finishes on 22 September, tweaks can be made to the project before planning and financing can start to be arranged.
United are yet to explain how they will fund the 100,000-capacity arena, which is set to cost in excess of £2bn.
"Work continues on our ambition to build a new stadium as part of a much broader redevelopment of our surrounding area here at Old Trafford," explained Berrada.
"Over the summer we shared the proposed new location of the stadium and we will be working closely with our fans over the coming months to keep you involved in that process."
Juventus are still considering signing Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee but a move will depend on whether Jonathan David leaves the Serie A side for Atletico Madrid. (Sky Sport Italy, external)
