    Defender Hayden Matthews has one cap for Australia

    Bradford City have signed defender Hayden Matthews from Portsmouth on a season-long loan deal.

    The 22-year-old centre-back, capped once by Australia, has made 20 appearances for Pompey since signing from Sydney FC in a £1.25m deal in January 2025.

    Injuries have affected his time at Fratton Park and his most recent competitive action was in the 1-1 draw with Birmingham at Fratton Park on the final day of last season.

    Matthews becomes the third recent loan arrival to arrive at Mbanq Valley Parade, with QPR midfielder Kieran Morgan and Blackburn Rovers defender George Pratt recently joining the club.

    Transfer deadline day is upon us and today is the final chance for your EFL club to finalise any business until January.

    The transfer window closes at 23:00 BST, so we might have some late night scrambles to get deals over the line.

    Bradford City have signed midfielder Kieran Morgan on loan from Championship side Queens Park Rangers for the remainder of the season.

    The 20-year-old was part of Tottenham Hotspur's academy before joining QPR in 2024.

    He has made 61 appearances for the Loftus Road club, 59 of them in the league over the past two seasons, scoring three times and making three assists.

    Morgan told the Bantams website: "The stature of the club is what really drew me towards it. It is obviously a nice feeling for a club as big as this to want me.

    "It is one of the biggest clubs in the EFL, and it will be a brilliant experience to play in front of the supporters."

    Bantams manager Graham Alexander added: "Kieran already has a good amount of games under his belt in the Championship, and will fit into our system smoothly.

    "He has an excellent passing range and energy to cover the pitch. He will no doubt show his skill set while with us."

    Bradford City have signed Blackburn Rovers defender George Pratt on a season-long loan deal.

    The 22-year-old made 10 Championship appearances for Rovers last season.

    The Bradford-born player could make his debut in Saturday's home game at Plymouth Argyle in League One.

    "We are very happy to bring a player in with his strong attributes, and his keenness to come here fills me with confidence we have signed a highly motivated player," boss Graham Alexander told the club website., external

    Cameron Dawson has joined League One Bradford City for the upcoming season

    Bradford City have signed goalkeeper Cameron Dawson on a one-year deal.

    The 31-year-old, who started his career with Sheffield Wednesday's academy, joins the West Yorkshire club from Rotherham.

    Dawson has played 198 games in the Football League in a career that has also taken him from the Owls to Plymouth, Alfreton Town, Wycombe Wanderers, Exeter and Chesterfield.

    The goalkeeper, who has represented England at youth level, has also been promoted twice with Exeter and Sheffield Wednesday.

    Dawson replaces the outgoing Sam Walker, who has left to join Watford after two and a half years at the club.

    Bantams boss Graham Alexander told the club website, external: "Cameron is a keeper we have looked at previously and know quite well.

    "He is determined to show his skill-set with us and alongside Jon (McCracken), we will have a very trustworthy and competitive goalkeeper department."

    Nick Powell's 2025-26 season was disrupted by a hamstring injury

    Nick Powell has signed a new one-year deal to stay at Bradford City this season.

    The 32-year-old midfielder, who joined the Bantams from Stockport County last summer, played 14 games for the club last season after suffering a hamstring injury which kept him out for six months.

    He has had a prolific pre-season, scoring goals in friendlies against Halifax Town, SV Gmunden, Preston North End and Salford City, after being given the chance to earn a new deal.

    Bradford City have signed former Everton defender Reece Welch on a two-year deal after a successful trial.

    The 6ft 6in 22-year-old came through the Toffees' academy and made three first-team appearances before being released at the end of last season.

    He could make his competitive debut for the Bantams in Saturday's Carabao Cup first-round tie against Rochdale.

    "We believe he has the potential to be a top player, and we will work hard with him to fulfil it," boss Graham Alexander told the club website., external
