Rangers remain top of the SWPL on goal difference after winning at Motherwell.

Manager Leanne Crichton made six changes to her side and it was a player who came into the XI who played a part in giving them the lead.

Brogan Hay's shot just before half time deflected off Motherwell's Ellie MacDonald and looped over Jen Currie, who was in goal for the home side as a trialist.

Currie's day didn't get much better as Rangers doubled their lead early in the second half, Hannah Blake chipping the former Partick Thistle keeper.

Katy Wilkinson came off the bench just after the hour, and last season's top scorer in the league helped to seal her side‘s 3-0 win with an injury-time penalty.

The victory keeps Rangers winning start to the SWPL intact, and ensures they stay top on goal difference.

An Izzy Young hat trick helped Spartans to their first win since their return to the SWPL.

The home side fell behind after Soraya Walsh gave Aberdeen the lead with their first goal of the new league campaign.

But 11 minutes later Young grabbed her first as the sides went into half time on level terms.

Young was on target again early in the second half as her strike put Spartans 2-1 up.

And then on the hour mark she popped up for her hat trick to seal a significant win for Spartans.

The result leaves Aberdeen still looking for their first win of the new season.

Hearts bounced back from defeat last weekend with a resounding win at Montrose.

Carly Johns got them off the mark with an early goal after she reacted quickly to a rebound.

Montrose had a couple of efforts, but Hearts soon piled on the pressure looking to add their scoreline.

Their second goal eventually came just before half time. Erin Husband with a shot from distance.

Hearts continued to dominate in the second half and were soon three up - Kayla Jardine with the strike.

Montrose's cause wasn't helped when Louisa Brown put the ball into the back of her own net, before a minute later Mariana Speckmaier scored her first of two goals to put Hearts well in control.

Her second was followed by Hearts seventh, as Ava Crawford scored in injury time.

The defeat leaves Montrose still looking for their first points of the new season.

Celtic made it four wins out of four in the SWPL, but they had to battle against a Partick Thistle side who showed great resilience in this enthralling game.

Celtic did take the lead in spectacular fashion. Issy Fisher's stunning long range volley beat Ava Easdon after just five minutes. She didn't even take a touch before executing her fabulous effort.

Thistle heads didn't go down, though. They regrouped and, after they hit the woodwork, Imogen Lockcake equalised on 24 minutes. On her 100th appearance for the club, she showed great strength and persistence to draw her side level.

There were no more goals in the first half, but there were plenty of talking points, with Celtic defender Fionnuala Morgan embroiled in two controversial moments.

The Northern Ireland international was shown a yellow card for what looked a high tackle on Sophie Townsley, then appeared to shove Townsley in the back, but there was no second booking.

The second half was equally entertaining.

Celtic took the lead early on as Hannah Jordan pounced on a slack pass back from Thistle's Morgan Hay to put her side ahead.

But just as in the first half, Thistle hit back. Ade Gay got a hand to Sophie Townsley's effort but couldn't keep it out.

However, as the clock ticked towards full time, Celtic found a winner as Lisa Robertson headed in from the corner.
