You could really see the pace from Madueke there. He raced away from the Slavia Prague defence to slot the ball away.

That is Noni Madueke's fourth Champions League goal but his first in 11 European matches since netting twice against Club Brugge last December.

We've just seen one flash of brilliance. Viktor Gyokeres helps this ball on really well. He hooks this on. Lovely, early ball.

Noni Madueke is really in the mood right now. He looks like a totally different player.

I think it's on Fernandez to affect the game. Even though Anderson is playing well, as the deeper of the three and Cherki further up the pitch.

With Fernandez it's about where he positions himself. Can he do both? Beside Anderson, but also can he get himself forward.

Manchester City are just starting to settle into things here and their first real opportunity of the match comes from Rayan Cherki.

Lovely football from the visitors as Enzo Fernandez shifts it across for Cherki but the Frenchman drags his shot just wide.

A quick VAR check confirms yes that is indeed a goal.

    Until now.

David Raya pumps a long ball up the pitch and Viktor Gyokeres controls it well before booting the ball into the path of Noni Madueke, who slots it between the keeper's legs.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola at his press conference: "The main reason that I can find for why we lost this game is we conceded from three set pieces. It's something that we were doing very well in the league, we were doing quite well until today.

"We knew it was one of the strengths of Fenerbahce. We concede from a free-kick, a corner and even from the long throw at the end.

"They're goals that have hurt us because we've gone twice in front after having good moments, controlling the game, arriving, we've found the goals but after we've conceded in situations we should definitely defend better.

"It's frustration because it's a difficult place to come here and play. In most parts of the game we were thinking we could win this one but obviously it hasn't happened.

"Especially the first goal and the third goal - the second one is a rebound - but the first one, I don't think we set the wall properly and the last one, Muriqi wins the ball against three defenders, it's definitely something we need to defend better."

We know that Leipzig like to play a high line and aggressively throw players forward, that just plays into the hands of Erling Haaland.

  20. 'Fenerbahce deserved it'published at 19:59 GMT

    FT: Fenerbahce 3-2 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool defender Kostas Tsimikas, speaking to Uefa: "Congratulations to Fenerbahce, they deserve it. We didn't play how we had to play.

"We didn't defend after the goal we conceded, after three or four minutes, automatically, we conceded another goal.

"I think we have to mark better if we want to win games. We didn't play very good and that's why we lost."
