Swedish duo Beata Olsson and Cornelia Kapocs helped Liverpool end a run of five consecutive home defeats in Merseyside derbies with a deserved win over Everton.
Liverpool took the lead at Anfield from a corner, scoring the fastest goal in a Women's Super League derby between the sides.
Olsson nipped in front of Hannah Blundell to glance a header beyond Everton goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan in the fourth minute.
Everton's best chance of the first half fell to Hannah Cain, who lifted a shot over the crossbar just after the half-hour mark after Liverpool were caught in possession.
The Toffees were much improved after the interval and showed greater ambition going forward, but the better chances fell to Liverpool.
Vivien Endemann rattled the crossbar, while Natalia Ramos had two good opportunities, first denied by a Ruby Mace block before blazing over.
Mace hooked a header from Kapocs off the line before Liverpool goalkeeper Khiara Keating produced a smart save to deny substitute Holly McNamara.
Gareth Taylor's side made the points safe with four minutes of normal time remaining when Kapocs swivelled inside the box and fired a low effort into the corner of the net.
Liverpool's victory gave them consecutive wins over their city rivals for the first time since they won three in a row across 2013 and 2014.
The result also helped the Reds leapfrog Everton into fifth place in the WSL table.
