Charlton Athletic winger Rob Apter has undergone surgery on a knee injury.

The Championship club say the 23-year-old faces an "extended spell on the sidelines", without specifying the likely timeline.

Apter has played only 11 minutes in the league this season, coming on for the closing stages of the 4-0 defeat at Stoke City last month.

He did, however, play the full match against Tottenham in the EFL Cup.

Apter's last league start for the Addicks came in December 2025 and he ended last season on loan at Bolton Wanderers, helping them to promotion via the League One play-offs.

"Rob has worked incredibly hard since returning to the club this summer, so this is a tough setback for him," Charlton boss Nathan Jones told the club's website., external

"He underwent surgery last week and will now begin a period of rehabilitation.

"He'll have the full support of our staff throughout his recovery and everyone at the club is with him.

"We know he'll approach this challenge with real determination and come back stronger."
