Goalkeeper Lee Burge has left Northampton Town after four years at the club.

The 33-year-old has been the Cobblers' first-choice keeper for the majority of his time at Sixfields since arriving from Sunderland in 2022, making 113 appearances in all competitions.

His contract expires this summer and it was announced last month that Burge had been offered a new deal.

However, following Chris Hogg's appointment as head coach on 18 May, the club have subsequently decided to release him.

"We have decided to go in a different direction in the goalkeeping position and so we have parted company with Lee," Hogg told the Cobblers' website., external

"Lee spent four seasons at the club and played over a hundred games, winning a promotion in that time, and it is important that contribution is recognised."
