Wigan have signed goalkeeper Joe Whitworth from Premier League side Crystal Palace on a three-year deal.

The 22-year-old will link up again with Gary Caldwell after two seasons on loan from the south London club at Exeter City, where he played under the Latics boss before Caldwell returned to Wigan in February.

At 19 years and 15 days old, Whitworth became the youngest goalkeeper to make a Premier League appearance for Crystal Palace, against Brighton in March 2023.

"I've worked with the head coach and the staff before, and we played some of our best football under him," Whitworth told the Wigan website, external. "To come here and play under him is really good for me again."
