York bring in Southend defender Boyes

Harry Boyes has had loan spells in the EFL with Forest Green, Lincoln, Wycombe and Fleetwood

York City have signed defender Harry Boyes for an undisclosed fee from Southend United.

Boyes played in all but two of Southend's National League games last season and was part of their side that won the FA Trophy, having left Sheffield United 12 months ago.

The 24-year-old wing-back returns to his native Yorkshire to join the Minstermen ahead of their EFL return.

York play their first competitive match of the season on Monday as they host Crawley Town in the EFL Cup preliminary round (19:30 BST).
