Guernsey FC Women suffer AFC Varsity defeat

Guernsey FC Women suffered a fifth loss in seven games as they went down 1-0 at AFC Varsity.

The crucial goal from the hosts came five minutes before half-time after the Green Lionesses had given the ball away.

AFC Varsity could have increased their lead after the break but Guernsey goalkeeper Emma Queripel made a number of good saves.

The loss means Guernsey drop to 10th place in Southern Region Women's Football League Division One South, two points and one place above the relegation places having played three more games than the sides below them.
