Middlesbrough defender Jack Daley has signed a new contract with the Championship club and joined Gillingham on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year-old's previous deal with Boro was due to expire at the end of the campaign but he has agreed new terms, details of which the club have not revealed.

Daley has signed for a Gillingham side who have taken only two points from their opening three League Two games and have had defender Liam Gordon ruled out with a knee injury.

The teenager could make his debut for the Kent outfit when they visit Chesterfield on Tuesday, 1 September (19:45 BST).
