Stadium plan deadline edging closer for Man Utd

Manchester United officials were at the final consultation event for the Old Trafford masterplan that was held in Stretford on Tuesday night.
Organisers estimate over 150 local residents attended the four events, with a further 250 at the initial unveiling at Old Trafford in July and the response is said to have been one of excitement.
Every premises in the Gorse Hill and Trafford Park West area has been contacted.
The actual consultation period doesn't finish until 22 September, when Trafford Council will assess the responses and whatever changes are needed.
While it is not anticipated formal planning permission will be submitted until late 2027 or early 2028, there are stages to go through, with the Mayoral Development Corporation - the body led by Lord Coe that oversees the project - next due to meet in November.
Meanwhile, it is anticipated United will be offering fans an opportunity to have their say, after which final plans for their planned 100,000-capacity stadium will be confirmed and costings, both in terms of the build and how it will be paid for, will need to be finalised.
United are working towards their new stadium being operational in time for the 2035 Women's World Cup.
