Teenager Hope-Bell earns new Glamorgan contract

Teenage batter Jack Hope-Bell has signed a Glamorgan contract extension after impressing in his opening 2026 campaign.
The 19-year-old will again be on a rookie deal in 2027 before graduating to a senior contract for 2028.
He hit a century on his debut, in the One Day Cup against Sussex at Neath, and also featured twice as Glamorgan held on to their Championship Division One status following promotion to the top tier in 2025.
Abergavenny-born Hope-Bell has also played for Newport and for England U19 development team, the national age-grade second-string.
He said: "I've really enjoyed my first year with the club as there have been some special and memorable moments.
"I'm looking forward to building on this start over the next two years. I'm grateful for the support from the coaches and players, and I'm excited to keep improving and contribute more over the next couple of years."
Left-arm seam-bowlerJamie McIlroy has also committed his future to the Welsh county.
The 32-year-old from Builth Wells will remain with Glamorgan for 2027.
