Batter Sheridon Gumbs has been handed a one-month contract with Leicestershire after being promoted from the club's second XI.
The 22-year-old has been with the Foxes since the start of the 2025 season, but is yet to make a first-class, List A or T20 Blast appearance for the East Midlands club.
Gumbs, a former England Under-19 international who made four List A appearances for Surrey in the One-Day Cup in 2022, has signed his short-term deal with Leicestershire after scoring an unbeaten 79 in the second XI's one-run T20 victory against Nottinghamshire earlier this week.
"Sheridon has worked extremely hard since arriving at the club and has thoroughly earned this opportunity," said Leicestershire director of cricket Claude Henderson.
"His performances for the second XI have been consistently impressive and he has shown he can score runs against strong opposition in a variety of situations."
