Hampshire extend Abbott deal and sign all-rounder Kuggeleijn

Hampshire bowler Kyle Abbott has signed a one-year contract extension keeping him at the county until at least the end of the 2027 season.

The 39-year-old South African seamer made his Hampshire debut in 2014 and has taken over 500 wickets at an average under 20.

He has amassed 49 County Championship wickets in 2026, and 2027 will be his 11th season at the club.

Hampshire have also signed New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn for the remaining four matches of the current County Championship campaign.

The 34-year-old will be available for vital home matches against Warwickshire and Sussex, plus trips to leaders Nottinghamshire and relegation rivals Leicestershire.

Hampshire are currently bottom of the Division One table, 16 points adrift of Leicestershire and 19 behind surprise strugglers Surrey in the first safety place.

The 34-year-old pace bowler has spent 12 years playing for Northern Districts in his home country.

He's also played three Test matches for the Black Caps as well as two one-day internationals and 18 T20s.
