Frazer Clarke: Heavyweight wants rematch with Fabio Wardley after draw in British title fight

Frazer Clarke says draws are bad for boxing after he drew with Fabio Wardley in their heavyweight contest on Sunday.

Wardley retained his British heavyweight belt after a gruelling 12-round encounter in London.

Both men stayed undefeated as a result, but Clarke, who was knocked down and deducted a point, was unhappy with the split-decision draw.

"I'd love a rematch," Clarke told 5 Live Boxing. "I don't like draws. I don't think draws are good for boxing."

He added: "I think there was enough there for the people judging the fight to make a decision, personally."

One judge scored it 114-113 to Wardley, the other 115-112 to Clarke, with a third going 113-113.

Wardley fought most of the fight struggling with a bad cut on his nose, needing stitches immediately afterwards.

The 29-year-old, who only started boxing aged 22, was full of praise for his opponent.

"That British title brings the best out of people. It deserves a fight like that," he said.

"All credit to Frazer as well. He's a fighter, and he may not have won tonight, but he's got the heart of a champion as well. He put on a hell of a performance."

Ben Shalom, who promotes 32-year-old Clarke, is hopeful a rematch can happen immediately.

"We'd love a rematch - whether they'll take it, because maybe they got away with one tonight, I don't know," he said.
