Guernsey bowlers Jason Greenslade and Ian Merrien have missed out on the men's pairs semi-finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The duo faced unbeaten group leaders Malaysia in their final pool game, knowing the victors would win their group and progress to the semi-finals.
But the islanders suffered a 1.5-0.5 loss to end Glasgow 2026 second in their pool.
They got off to a great start in the opening set as they went 4-0 up after two ends.
But Amirul Danial Abdul Rahim and Mohammad Soufi Rusli took four shots in the next end to level it at 4-4.
Guernsey went 5-4 up in the penultimate end, but the Malaysians were able to win the final end by a shot to tie the set 5-5.
Greenslade and Merrien had no answer to Abdul Rahim and Rusli's start to the second set as they raced into a 10-0 lead after three ends.
The islanders pulled a shot back in the fourth end but the Malaysian duo took three shots in the final end to ease to a 13-1 win and finish the pool stage with five wins from five games.
