US media are reporting that Washington and Iran are close to signing a deal to extend the current ceasefire for sixty days. The news website Axios cited a US official saying that during this time the Strait of Hormuz would be re-opened. It said the Trump administration would give some sanctions relief to enable Tehran to sell oil freely and negotiations would be held on curbing Iran's nuclear programme. Iran's Fars news agency has said in response that claims of an agreement being close was "inconsistent with reality." Also in the programme: DR Congo continues to fight an Ebola outbreak; and impact of Manchester’s music scene. Presenter Paul Henley is joined by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani, a Nigerian novelist and journalist; and Jamille Pinheiro Dias, director of London University's Centre of Latin American and Caribbean Studies.
