French cities enforce overnight curfews

Newsday

Available for 29 days

Major French cities have imposed overnight curfews after a weekend of violent demonstrations. The French interior minister has acknowledged that the police were underprepared for the scale of the riots. Meanwhile retailers across France are counting their losses with hundreds of shops looted and damaged. The Australian MP, Helen Hains, remains in a critical condition and has reportedly lost a leg, as police consider charges against the driver of the vehicle. And we hear from the mayor of Taybeh in the West Bank. It's been at the centre of settler violence recently.
