Woman at centre of housing protests in Spain dies

Newsday

Available for 28 days

An elderly woman whose eviction sparked nationwide protest over Spain's housing crisis and a political row that triggered early elections has died according to Madrid's tenants union. Maricarmen Abascal, 87, was forcibly removed on a stretcher from her apartment of more than 70 years last September after she was unable to afford rent increases. We look at the economic conditions in France that have led to the recent school protests by students. And we speak to Angola's leading opposition leader, Adalberto Costa Jr, on his hopes for UNITA in the next elections. Presenters: James Copnall and Anne Soy.
