France and Spain continue to battle wildfires

Newsday

Available for 28 days

This summer's fourth heatwave was expected to start by Wednesday, bringing temperatures in the area to 40C. Similar temperatures are expected in Spain. Dozens of communities are still threatened by wildfires that forced more than 70,000 to evacuate their homes over the last week in France. Spain has ended some evacuation orders, allowing about 44,000 people to return home or leave confinement. We'll have an update on that big earthquake that hit Japan: Thirteen people are now known to have died and many are still feared trapped in a collapsed shopping mall. And we take you to the West Bank where Jewish settler attacks on Palestinians are on the rise.
