Ukraine plans to ban surrogacy for foreign parents

Newsday

Available for 29 days

Ukraine is one of the world’s leading hubs for commercial surrogacy, attracting couples from around the world with lower costs and more relaxed laws. Even after Russia’s invasion, the industry has continued to operate, with fertility clinics adapting to war. But now, a proposed law being debated in Ukraine’s parliament could ban surrogacy for foreign parents. We have a report from Kyiv. We look at conflicting reports on a deal to stop hostilities in the Middle East. And we look at the situation in the Central African Republic. The United Nations has described the situation there as one of the most neglected humanitarian emergencies globally. Presenters: James Copnall and Anne Soy. (Photo: Ukraine surrogate. Credit: BBC)
