US says blockade of Strait of Hormuz successful

Newsday

Available for 29 days

The United States says the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz was proving successful by "strangling" Tehran's economy. Meanwhile Iran's chief negotiator in the peace talks described the blockade as a "violation" on social media and said it amounted to taking the global economy "hostage". We look at why the waterway is proving such a stumbling block for continued peace talks between the two sides. We look at the economic problems the war in Iran is causing China. And the European Union has approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine. Presenters: James Copnall and Catherine Byaruhanga. (Photo: Ships and boats in the Strait of Hormuz. Credit: Reuters).
