Latest US blanket tariffs 'unjustified'

Newshour

Available for 29 days

The US has imposed new tariffs on 60 trading partners. These tariffs, which replace an identical levy which expires on Friday, are based on claims key economic partners have failed to properly tackle forced labour. Those affected - including Brazil, Norway, China, and Australia have criticised the move by the Trump administration. Will these import taxes last and what effect will they have? Also in the programme: the woman who tried single-handedly to stop a police bus taking away Indian student protesters; how the future of the chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court hangs on a vote today; and are we seeing an end-game to Russian domination of chess?
