Richmond shops claim drop in footfall due to cobble works

Businesses in the historic market town have reported drops of 40% in trade compared to last year. Claudia Robinson met some of the business owners. North Yorkshire Council told us... “We recognise that roadworks can create challenges for local businesses and residents during essential maintenance works. However, carrying out these repairs now will help to prevent the state of the cobbles worsening and reduce the need for more extensive and costly works in the future. We try our best to minimise disruption wherever possible and carefully plan traffic management to ensure the work can be carried out safely while keeping access open for residents, businesses and visitors.
