Available for over a year

Spain made much of the world sit up and take notice after it recorded one of it best ever medal hauls in a winter Paralympics. One of the brightest stars of the recent Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympics was Audrey Pascual Seco. The 21 year old para skier from Granada, who was making her debut, made history for her country after becoming the first Spaniard to bring home a haul of four medals including two gold medals, from just one Paralympic Games. Audrey’s achievement shows a remarkable turn if events in Spain where para sports is on the rise with more and more young people with disabilities becoming involved in sport. The Spanish Paralympic Committee may sit atop helping elite para athletes, but much more work is being done at grassroots level as well. One of the first to be involved in providing sporting opportunities for people with disabilities is Fundacion Tambien. Funded over 26 years ago, the foundation helped train Audrey when she was just 11 years old. Recently, the foundation established a new course for indoor para climbing, looking to see if they can build a team for para climbing at future Paralympic Games. Not by the Playbook's Ashish Sharma went along to one of the training sessions to meet the athletes and to find out more.
