Need To Know Leicestershire

Available for over a year

One year on from the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, families in Leicestershire are still waiting for answers and are anxiously waiting for India's Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau crash report to be released. 260 people died when the London-bound Flight 171 went down shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad Airport in India on 12 June 2025. Viswashkumar Ramesh, from Leicester, was the only person who survived the tragedy. Sanjiv Patel is Vishwas' representative and spoke to BBC Leicester’s Ady Dayman. It's believed that up to 20 or more families are affected in Leicester. We've been speaking to some of those families, who are still searching for answers. With the crash investigation still under way, a spokesperson for Air India said: "We stand in solidarity with the families and communities affected and remain united in mourning those we have lost."
