Why can't young people get a job?

Voice of the UK

Available for over a year

Next boss Lord Wolfson says there's a crisis in entry-level jobs. The Conservative peer says there are nearly twice as many applicants for shop jobs as two years ago. He blames the rise in employers' National Insurance contributions and the minimum wage. A Treasury spokesperson said increasing the national minimum wage boosted pay for more than 200,000 young workers, and pointed out that employer national insurance contributions were lower when hiring under-21s. Nicky Campbell asks listeners: Why can't young people get a job?
