Ground-breaking new road crossing

Available for over a year

The first of its kind has been built in the grounds of New College Worcester to assist visually impaired students in learning how to use them safely. Daisy Campbell tells Tammy Gooding how a cone on the bottom of the unit will spin when the time is safe to cross, when visually impaired users might not otherwise see a green light. Students at New College are all blind or visually impaired and alongside their lessons, are taught essential life skills including Braille, mobility, and independent living. The crossing has also been dedicated to the memory of NCW governor Noel Duffy, who died in January.
