The UK's security is "in peril" and Sir Keir Starmer's government has shown "corrosive complacency" towards defence, the former Nato secretary general Lord George Robertson has said. Responding to those comments, the prime minister’s official spokesman said: “I completely reject that, our armed forces are working around the world every minute of the day to keep us safe at home and strong abroad.” He said the long-delayed Defence Investment Plan would be published “as soon as possible”.
