with Shilpa: The Soundtrack of Me

Available for 40 days

New voices and new sounds from the Asian Network. Shilpa looks back at the songs, people and places that shaped her music taste. From the Bollywood cassettes her dad brought over from India to the Malayalam music that kept Kerala close while she was growing up in the UK. She revisits the films and love songs that defined her teenage years, the Malayalam tracks that transport her straight back home, and the Punjabi and Asian music she discovered through university and her Bollywood dance team. Along the way, Shilpa explores how every stage of her life added another layer to her playlist, until the result became the wonderfully chaotic mix she listens to today. Produced in Birmingham by Solis Productions for BBC Asian Network.
