World champion racing driver Graham Hill answers questions about his life posed by Anne Allen and Raymond Baxter. He talks about not being used to being called a world champion, dealing with fears behind the racing car wheel, and about his early struggles in the 1930s to become a racing driver. Graham Hill, two-time Formula One World Champion, and 1972 winner of the Le Mans 24-hour Grand Prix d’Endurance, died tragically in a plane crash in 1975, aged 45. His son, Damon Hill, went on to became Formula One World Champion in 1996. Launched in 1952, Frankly Speaking was a novel, groundbreaking BBC series. Unrehearsed and unscripted, the traditional interviewee/interviewer pairing was initially jettisoned for three interviewers - later two - firing direct questions. Early critics demanded it was axed, but the format won out and eventually won over detractors. Only 40 or so of the original 100 programmes survive. First broadcast on the BBC Home Service in March 1963.
