Should we still be executing people? You may have been seeing the developments in Tennessee after US convicted murderer Christa Pike has been left in a critical condition after authorities failed to execute her with two lethal injections. Pike was sentenced to death in 1996 for the murder a year earlier of 19-year-old Colleen Slemmer. She would’ve been the first woman executed in Tennessee in more than 200 years. A third-party review has since been ordered by state Governor Bill Lee, who has halted executions in Tennessee for the rest of the year, as the attempted execution of Pike was not the first in Tennessee in 2026 that did not go to plan. How can we encourage walkers to prepare properly? Mountain Rescue England and Wales have warned that too many novice hill walkers, inspired by social media posts, are putting themselves in danger by not being correctly prepared to hike up mountains. It recorded emergencies involving 18 to 24-year-olds almost doubled from 2019-2024, with the four largest teams in Wales all on track for record high call outs in 2026. What have you seen on your own walking trips? And finally, fresh calls have been made for the sand to be brought back to North Shore Beach in Llandudno after it was replaced in 2014 with 50,000 tonnes of heavy quarry rock and boulders as part of an emergency flood defence scheme. Since then, the beach was voted the most disappointing in the UK in 2024. So, today we want to ask, can a stone beach EVER be as good as a sandy one? Maybe there is one near you, and you'd like to stick up for it... Call or WhatsApp 03700 100 110. Text 8 10 12. Be part of the nation's conversation.
