OxFarmtoFork - Connecting Growers to Oxford Institutions

On Your Farm

Available for over a year

Anna Hill finds out how the OxFarmtoFork initiative is connecting small growers with institutions in Oxford through a very short supply chain. Since its inception only around 3 years ago, it's built a collective of around 20 growers around Oxford and 20 buyers - currently all colleges of Oxford University. By acting like a wholesaler, OxFarmtoFork helps growers forge direct relationships with chefs, making it easy to buy from them. And in doing so, they’re creating a new local food network, one where any profit is reinvested back into the system to support small farms around Oxford. Anna goes to visit Jamie Carr, the Head Grower of Blacklands Organics, to hear how OxFarmtoFork has helped his business grow. Producer: Sophie Anton for BBC Audio Production in Bristol.
