All this week, Scottish violinist, vocalist, composer and broadcaster Seonaid Aitken is sitting in for Soweto Kinch, sharing some of her favourite jazz releases from the UK and around the world. Seonaid is one of the UK’s leading jazz musicians. A two-time Scottish Jazz Award winner for Best Vocalist, she leads the acclaimed gypsy jazz ensemble Rose Room and has collaborated with artists including Michael Bublé, Burt Bacharach, Martin Taylor and Eddi Reader, as well as with the Orchestra of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera. From Monday to Thursday this week, Seonaid welcomes British jazz vocalist Emma Smith as her Flowers guest. Brought up in a musical family, Emma is a Parliamentary Jazz Award winner who is celebrated for her powerhouse voice and magnetic stage presence. To begin her week celebrating some of the artists that continue to inspire her, Emma chooses to give her first bouquet to one of jazz's master musicians.
