Young Trad 2027 & 21st Century Folk

Travelling Folk

Available for 29 days

As 21st Century Folk returns to BBC Radio 2 this week, Anna speaks to producer Kellie While to hear more about the project that celebrates the lives and experiences of 5 real working people with 5 original folk songs. This year's "sport" themed project includes a new song by Eddi Reader and John Douglas, written for a bare-chested runner in the West End of Glasgow. Plus Anna launches our search for the BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2027 - the platform where young singers and instrumentalists from all over the country compete for this prestigious title, an additional recording session with BBC Radio Scotland and performance slots at the Scots Trad Music Awards and the HebCelt Festival. The grand final will be broadcast live from the City Halls in Glasgow on 31st January as part of the Celtic Connections Festival. So if you are aged 18 to 27, head to our website now to enter at bbc.co.uk/youngtrad, where you will also find our competition rules and privacy notice. Entries close at 11.59 pm on Sunday 2nd August.
