This week, Soweto welcomes award-winning cellist and composer Tomeka Reid as his 4/4 guest. Tomeka is a key figure on Chicago’s experimental scene and a former MacArthur “Genius Grant” winner. She recently released new album as part of the quartet she leads, titled “dance! skip! hop!”. From Monday to Thursday, Tomeka is celebrating some of her most treasured albums on 4/4. To begin the week, she chooses a record by a masterful violinist. Also in the programme there’s music from Cécile McLorin Salvant, Zoe Rahman and Steve Toddler. ‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
