By 1980, Talking Heads were the name on all the critics' lips. Emerging out of the potent New York punk scene, they'd drifted into more esoteric territory, aided and abetted by art-rock provocateur Brian Eno. After two albums of twisty, rhythmic post-punk, both Eno and Talking Heads frontman David Byrne had immersed themselves in African culture, and were planning to push even further into the unknown. But behind the scenes, tensions were brewing, with the other band members wondering just how involved in the band Eno was, and who was really calling the shots. Out of this melting pot emerged one of the most influential albums ever made, a poly-rhythmic art-funk monster, and a record that continues to break new ground today, 1980's Remain in Light.
