Vernon Kay

Available for 29 days

Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford chooses his last two songs of this week's Tracks Of My Years. Plus, two listeners take on the mid-morning music quiz Ten To The Top and Vernon explores the BBC Archive in Vernon's Vault. Born in California in 1987, then raised in Wimbledon, Marcus Mumford began making music from a young age and first met his future Mumford & Sons bandmate Ben at school. He went to Edinburgh University and began writing music there, but left after a year to return to London and focus on music, playing drums with Laura Marling. The band Mumford & Sons formed in 2007, at a time where a British folk scene was blooming. Their 2009 debut album Sigh No More sold more than a million copies in the UK, earned them a BRIT award and reached #2 in both the UK and the US. In 2013 they headlined the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury and won Album of the Year at the Grammys. The band performed in the Radio 2 Piano Room in January this year, shortly before releasing their latest album Prizefighter - which became their fourth UK chart-topping record. Mumford & Sons are touring globally this year, with one huge UK show at London's Hyde Park on Thursday 4th July. A BBC Audio production for BBC Radio 2.
