Cerys's weekly round-up of the blues you need to hear, from all around the world and in all shapes and sizes! This week Cerys welcomes the legendary Hammond Organ player Booker T Jones to share memories of growing up near Beale Street Memphis, the capital of blues music and how the classic 12 bar blues structure has influenced all his music, including the track Green Onions. Booker also talks about Stax Records, BB King, meeting the late Steve Cropper and demonstrates on the Hammond organ how he wrote Albert King's Born Under A Bad Sign the night before it was recorded! Booker T Jones may be best known as the leader of Booker T & The MG’s. He's is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and the recipient of a Grammy lifetime achievement. Over the course of his career he's worked with Otis Redding, Albert King and more at Stax Records, as well as Willie Nelson, Wilson Pickett, Sam & Dave, Bill Withers and many, many more. Produced by BBC Audio for BBC Radio 2.
