Available for booking

Join us for a special recording of BBC Radio 4’s Bookclub at the Borders Book Festival in Melrose with Anne Sebba, as she discusses her 2011 bestselling biography That Woman: The Life of Wallis Simpson, Duchess of Windsor.

One of the most talked-about women of her generation, Wallis Simpson inspired such deep love and adoration in Edward VIII that he gave up a throne and an empire for her. Anne Sebba sheds new light on the character and motivations of this powerful, charismatic and complex American socialite, who the Queen Mother described as ‘that woman’.

Please only apply for a ticket if you are able to read That Woman in advance (and/or are familiar with the content within it), and are willing to take part in the discussion. If you’d like to hear more about the book, its writer, and the mind and research behind it, we’d be delighted to welcome you.

To attend, please apply for a ticket and submit a question in advance for Anne to bookclub@bbc.co.uk

Bookclub is shaped by audience questions, making this a fantastic chance to join a lively conversation with presenter James Naughtie and Anne Sebba.

How to be in the audience

Step 1: Apply for tickets

Tickets for this show are being allocated on a first-come first-served basis, so when we receive your ticket request your details are added to the list of applicants. Tickets are usually dispatched from approximately three weeks ahead of the recording date.

Step 2: Receive a message

All eligible requests are allocated tickets in the order they are received, up to the maximum number of available tickets. If successful, we notify you by text message and send your e-ticket(s) to your email address. If unsuccessful you will be kept on the waiting list in case anyone cancels their tickets.

Step 3: Bring your tickets and ID

We do our best to get the numbers right, but unfortunately we occasionally have to disappoint people. Remember that every guest must bring original approved photo ID.
