The Rollercoaster

Emma Balmer

Something I will always remember is the day I almost fell out of a rollercoaster. It was two years ago and I was in Florida.

There was little rollercoaster and my mum, dad, sister and I joined the line. It took about twenty minutes but the time just passed quickly. The rollercoaster was very small and in a tight space. It had a single loop which went quite slow but it seemed fine. I was felling scared because at this time I was afraid of rollercoasters.

When it came to our turn I said to my dad I would put my hands up. We sat down and I sat next to my sister, Holly. There was a single bar that went over our laps. I did not feel as secure as I should have but by this time we were already moving. I put my hands up and we went. We were getting closer to the loop. When we got there I still had my hands up, we reached the top of the loop and I felt myself jerk downwards. My hands just immediately reacted and I grabbed the bar.

At the end it suddenly stopped. We got off and I told my mum and dad what felt like I was going to fall out. I was now a bit shaky. We just moved on. My mum and I played a game of 'hook a duck' and I won a bear. We got on with our day and I later lost my bear after eating lunch. My dad and Holly went on a lot of big rides. My mum and I stayed on the littler rides.

The rest of out day was fun, I enjoyed it and did not think about the rollercoaster. We went to more amusement parks on the other days. We went to MGM Studios, Universal Studios, Animal Kingdom, Busch Gardens and some more. Until we went to Alton Towers with the school I had still been afraid of rollercoasters but now I really like them. We went on Oblivion. Oblivion is a ride that drops 200feet in a vertical position. That rollercoaster that I almost fell out of will always be in my memory. It reminded me to speak up if I do not feel secure in a rollercoaster.

In conclusion I feel lucky that I did not fall out of the rollercoaster because I may have died and I may have never made the friends I have today.
