The Puppies

Frazer Legge

In the morning my mum told me that we were going to see our new dogs for the first time when I got back from school that day. I spent all day day-dreaming about what they would look like and by the time I got home I was so excited that I was jumping up and down.

We were very lucky to find someone in Edinburgh who had a litter of dogs that we wanted because the breed isnt very common. We were glad that we found someone nearby.

We arrived at the front door for the first time in a long time to see a new dog since my old dogs died 2 years ago and from the moment I set my eyes on the puppies I knew I had to have one, I just wanted to take one home with me. They were so cute and small. They even fitted in the palm of my hand.

They didnt have their eyes open yet and couldnt really walk. But even so, they knew someone was there and cuddled right in to keep warm on the cold winter night and the one that we would take home with us was with me almost all of the time and when I put him down he started to cry. I knew this would have to be my dog but my mum had her eye on another one. In the end we decided that we would get two but we would have to wait because they were just four days old.

On the way home we discussed names. My dad wanted to call one Shamish but there were problems with saying Shamish sit because it turns out Shamish ****!
