The Day I Got my Puppy.doc
Ellie Street
When I was four or five, I had a dog called Nell, She was a collie. She was starting to get old, so we decided we would get a puppy to keep Nell young.
It was Christmas Eve and my mums friend had called to say her dog had just had puppies around one month ago, and we could come over that day to pick one, because she couldnt handle looking after all those puppies anymore.
We went over to her house and I was so excited I couldnt sit still in the car. We knocked on the door and you could here all of the puppies barking. We were let in, and the door was shut quickly behind us. Suddenly we were surrounded by puppies!
While my mum and her friend had a cup of tea, I sat and played with all the puppies. But there was one I particularly liked; she was the smallest and the skinniest of them all. They called her Skinny Malinkey.
She was my favourite, and it turned out, she was my familys favourite too! We took her home that day; she was our familys best Christmas present ever.
We all decided that we would call her Milly. We still have Milly today, but shes getting on a bit. She now has grey fur on her chin and she has grown a lot, but I still love her just as much as I did the first time I saw her.
