On My Own

May Somerville

One night after taking a shower I was in the hail, ready to go into the living room. When I noticed the mail box of my front door was open and a pair of eyes was peering in at me, because I was frightened I took the towel from my head to put it over the mail box, but that's when I heard the voice.

(Probably because the towel wasn't over my ears) She was speaking to me as though I was an idiot telling me she was epileptic and she had to come into my house because she had just took a fit.

I'd taken a fit about a month before this, this girl had brought me home, then at the last minute she asked if she could use my toilet. I told her of course. She had brought a baby up with her in a pram. I looked after the youngster when he woke up. I noticed she was taking an awful long time in the toilet.

When I when to take a look, I saw the bathroom door was open and she was standing with her back to me putting some of my things into a bag. Because it was only deodorant and stuff, I said nothing and let her go with the baby.

Though that's why I didn't want her in my house again. So I told her in the silly way she was speaking to me that I would get my carer to open the door, "I remember you told me you didn't get carers"

'I do when I'm having a shower "I said (in the same way) "well my carers will look after you. Ill go in and get Jenny just now to open the door, cause I m not allowed to open it late at night, then the nurse can see you"

I lived up a flight of stairs at this time and I never heard anyone race down the stairs so fast.

About a fortnight later I was told by someone who lives near that this girl is a drug addict. I'm definitely glad I didn't let her in again.

Not knowing this as I didn't know this, I was new to the area at this time. This girl left the place a long time ago. I don't know how she got on about the drugs as I never saw her again.
