Scottish Young Carers Festival 2008

On the 11 of September I went to Edinburgh for a two day weekend away from looking after my mum which I have been doing since I was seven years old.

One of the women came to see me to say what was going to be there and travel arrangements because it was the first ever festival in Scotland and it was my first time going away from my mum for something like that. The woman said there were going to be nine girls and three boys altogether from the Highland area going on our bus.

My dad and mum kept teasing me saying I would be friends with the boys than the girls and strangely enough they were right again. When I got dropped of at Inverness I got on the bus and I was told to sit next to the three boys we started to talk and we became good friends joined at the hip it was nice because I learned about who and why they looked after who they did and they learned who and why I looked after my mum.

We will be friends forever and now every time there's a new thing for us young carers we promised we will go together everywhere and meet up when we can I guess you could say were joint at the hip still and we will stay in each others hearts until the end.
