The Day My Sister was Born
Rachel Mulholland
I thought I was going to be a normal Friday, yes my mum was expecting a baby and she had been in hospital for a few days but, I never thought this would happen.
I had been staying at my gran's house. I woke up on Friday morning and ran down the stairs. My gran always makes the best fry-up and I couldn't wait to have one. After breakfast I went upstairs to get dressed for nursery, not knowing that somewhere in St. Johns Hospital my mum was having the baby that was going to be my little sister. After getting dressed me and my gran watched the morning news. Suddenly my gran realised the time. 'We must get you to nursery,' she said. We jumped in the car and I was so excited. I loved nursery, it was the thing I enjoyed waking up for. I went into nursery, and said goodbye to my gran, then ran in to be registered.
After a fun filled morning of painting, and running about we had a snack. I wolfed down the biscuit and juice, I wanted to be the first to finish. I skipped through to the paint set I wanted to paint my gran a picture of a tree. Just the n a pair of large freezing cold hands rested on my eyes, I got such a fright. 'Guess who,' said a familiar voice I burled around to see an excited but very tired looking face. 'Hi dad' I said. 'I thought granny was picking me up.' He explained that we had to see my mum and that they had a surprised for me. I thought maybe they had bought me something and was overjoyed. Until we pulled up at St. Johns Hospital my dad and I went into the small hospital shop were we bought balloons and a toy. I was curious to see what surprise would be lurking in a hospital. The last time I came here was when my granddad was ill. Suddenly we turned the corner into one of the wards and there on the first bed on the left was my mum holding a tiny bundle. 'What's that?' I asked 'This is your little sister and her names Sarah.' 'That's the name I chose,' I said I was so happy, after that loads of things happened. Sarah cried and cried and cried some more. It was so annoying.
I can't imagine life without my little sister and even though we fight and she is so annoying sometimes she is still my little sister.
