In June 2004, my son, Ross was diagnosed with cancer in both kidneys. He was only 11 months old. After a long hard battle and tremendous support from CLIC Sargent, Ross went into remission. My husband and I wanted to do something to say thank you to the charity and to help other families through this horrible nightmare. We organised a Boxing Day dip. Our 1st one was in 2006, which raised £12,000. But our 2nd one really brought tears to my eyes.

Boxing day 2007, Prestwick beach, around 270 people turned up to run into the sea to help children with cancer. Around 2000 spectators looked on. I stood at the back of Malcolm Sargent House - CLIC Sargent's holiday home for children with cancer and their families - with tears in my eyes, amazed at the support people were giving our fundraising event. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine our Boxing Day Dip 2007 would raise £45,000.

As I sit here typing this, I still can't believe we raised so much. This is a day I will never forget.
